How We Protect Your Donation
- Your contribution goes towards the project you chose to support. We have designed the process so that you can see how your money is being used rather than simply taking our word for it.
- No one person controls the money. Each project’s funds are kept in a dedicated account, and every payment must be approved by two different people: one from Root Impact Bridge and one from the local community. Neither person can move money alone.
- Money is released in stages. Funds are not paid out all at once. They are released as work is completed and verified. This means that if something goes wrong during the project, money that has not yet been spent remains protected.
- Every naira is recorded. You can see how much has been raised, how much has been spent and how much is left. Costs are clearly recorded so that donors can understand where the money is going.
- The work is checked on the ground. Local representatives and an independent verifier help confirm that materials have arrived and that the work has been completed before further funds are released.
- Unused funds do not simply disappear. If a project raises more money than it needs or cannot go ahead, the unused funds can be returned to donors or, with donor agreement, used for a related and verified community need.
Our Obligations
Here is what you can expect from us. . .
- Before you give, you will be able to see the verified need, the project budget, who the project is intended to help and what the money is expected to be used for.
- While the project is running, you will receive regular updates, including photographs and other evidence of progress. You will also be able to check a live record of money received and spent.
- When the project is completed, you will receive a final report showing what was delivered, how the money was used and, where possible, the difference the project made. This will include before-and-after evidence
- If something goes wrong, we will explain what has happened as honestly and clearly as possible. You will have a way to raise concerns and receive a response. If a significant change needs to be made to the project, donors will be informed and involved in the decision where appropriate.
- Your information is protected. We will only use the information you provide for purposes connected with processing and accounting for your contribution. Your personal details will not be publicly shared without your permission.
