A trust platform for community development
Our goal is to complete meaningful community projects through a funding model that is transparent and supported by the community. We also want to carry out academic research into what influences people, particularly Nigerians in the diaspora, to support community development projects.
We understand that trust cannot be created simply by asking people to trust us. That is why RIB is designed so that donors, community members and other stakeholders can see how decisions are made, how money is used and how the project progresses.

Most of this money supports individual families. Very little reaches organised community development like the schools, clinics and shared facilities that entire communities depend on.
This isn’t because people abroad do not care. Many want to give back to the places they come from. The difficulty is trust. A person abroad often has no way to know whether a community project is genuine, how their money is used, any way for them to hold someone accountable if something goes wrong. Faced with that uncertainty, many people who would gladly give are discouraged from contributing to the development of their hometowns
We start with people living abroad, with real community development projects. The goal is to make it easier for people to support communities they care about while being sure of exactly how their money is being used to create a positive impact.
The idea behind RIB is that people should not be discouraged from giving to their community for fear that their contribution will be misused behind their backs. They should be able to see and understand what is going on.
Before money is raised, the need for the project is verified and assessed thoroughly with the beneficiary community. The budget is made public, and the money is kept under shared control so that no one person has complete control over it. Funds are released as the work is completed and there is ample evidence that work has actually been done.
Every contribution and expense is recorded, and independent people can check that what has been reported is what actually happened. RIB is about turning people's willingness to help into real action. It gives people a way to support projects in their communities with confidence, even when they are far away.
Your contribution goes towards the project you chose to support. We have designed the process so that you can see how your money is being used rather than simply taking our word for it.
